ABOUT NPI/ J&JMPI

Dear Ladies and gentlemen,

I am excited to inform you about the opening of John & Judy MacLean Polytechnic Institute, formerly Nehemiah Polytechnic Institute, as a technical vocational academy. The institute is located at the address mentioned below and will make its debut on October 15, 2023.

Our mission is to provide South Sudanese families with access to services that will help them become self-reliant citizens without relying heavily on government welfare or UN-driven relief practices. Our goal is to establish a community to help people rebuild their families and communities and grow in their faith.

Two years ago, we envisioned completing the original vision of Operation Nehemiah Missions by building a church, a nursery school, a primary school, and a polytechnic institute in the next 5 years between 2021-2025. The goal of this initiative is to provide South Sudanese families returning from exile with services that will serve as a microcosm of self-governance as citizens of an independent country. This will be achieved without relying too much on government welfare or UN-driven relief practices, which have been adopted, copied, and practiced in South Sudan.

The compelling and prevailing motivation of Operation Nehemiah Missions is to promote the Gospel of Jesus Christ, thereby bringing people to repentance and eternal salvation for their soul. All our humanitarian and developmental initiatives are to rebuild South Sudan from the ashes of war and persecution. Our core principle is the discipleship of one person, one family, one church, and one community at a time.

Our primary focus is to provide services for people in Eastern Equatoria State, South Sudan returning from exile displaced by war to take hold of their country. We are taking one village and one family at a time and intend to establish a community that will provide people with the opportunity to rebuild their communities, their families and to grow in their faith. We train and disciple women to embrace God, family, and motherhood, and fathers to demonstrate the impact of a gospel-centered home.

Therefore, upon this premise, we envisioned establishing a permanent spiritual house of worship center for prayers, retreat center for peacemaking, community's spiritual stability and healing center from the impact of war and displacement, a Christian academy, and a polytechnic vocational institute that can provide quality education with the Messianic Biblical world view to teach and train the children of our nation to acquire a one-year hands-on state-of-the-art polytechnic institute that can provide vocational training for South Sudanese youth.

The NPI will be for only 12 months of vocational training divided into 3 semesters. Graduates will be deployed into the workforce without spending endless years in college while leaving behind their languishing families. The school will train and keep South Sudanese skilled workers in the country instead of sending them elsewhere for education but once they are done with education, they never come back. About 80% of the skilled workforce and retail industry in South Sudan is imported from other countries. Bethlehem primary school and Nehemiah Polytechnic Institute will bring balance to that disproportionate import of skilled workforce. Entrepreneurial ventures and small business startups are key to revitalizing the economy of South Sudan. South Sudan needs a blue-collar labor force as opposed to a white-collar labor force because the country is still considerably basic, and it will need to set up its basic infrastructures for the next 20 years on the strength of the blue collars.

We need 6 months- one year hands-on technical and vocational training polytechnic type of institutions to quickly output young people into the workforce or create their own businesses.

Best regards, faithfully In His grace
William Levi, Chancellor

The main goal of the polytechnic is to train students in hands-on experience in tailoring and fashion design. We envision that students who complete the program will be able to sustain themselves by finding jobs to earn a living here in South Sudan. We also want to stop brain drain of students who leave the country in search of education elsewhere but never return to their home country to impact the economic progress of their new country.
